Heat Warning

This year, like in recent years, we’re seeing higher than average temperatures in the summer months. There have been many tragic incidents of hikers falling ill or dying, hiking in hot weather. Avoid going to the parts of southwest USA where it’s not recommended to go during the summer months ie. Death Valley National Park in California or Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. As well, pay attention to areas that are experiencing heatwaves at the time of your travel.

There are so many great places to hike in North America, particularly in the US, this summer, so check out Where to Hike When for lots more ideas for mountain hiking for summer 2024.
