Many popular US national parks, including Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, Acadia National Park in Maine, Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, will require reservations for the 2023 hiking season.
While national parks have always been a big draw with nature lovers, the popularity of outdoor spaces exploded during the pandemic, causing many national parks to implement a reservation system in order to limit the number of visitors.
Now, in anticipation of a very busy summer season, more national parks are requiring visitors to book in advance. Currently these parks include: Olympic National Park in Washington; Arches National Park in Utah; Glacier National Park in Montana; Acadia National Park in Maine; Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado; Shenandoah National Park in Virginia; and Haleakalā National Park in Hawaii.
