United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a group of seven emirates that occupy a small space on the eastern side of the Arabian peninsula and conjures up images of sleek metropolises, malls and desert.  The Emirates consist of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al Quwain, Ras al Khaimah, and Fujairah, the most well known being the first two. Some of the emirates have discontinuous borders. There is mountain hiking in the eastern part of the group, in Ras al Khaimah, Fujairah and Sharjah.
