Overview

‘Hill Country’ is a term often used to describe the green, mountainous region of Sri Lanka, a small South Asian country south of India.  There are plenty of established hiking trails, with gorgeous views, particularly in the southcentral part of the country, where you can hike near the mountain towns of Nuwara Eliya and Ella, among others.  Popular hikes include those to Adam’s Peak, World’s End, Ella’s Rock, and the newest, the Pekoe Trail. Climate:  Tropical – wet and dry seasons, although the dry season still sees some rains.  There are two monsoons, Maha in the northeast and Yala in the southwest; the hill country is affected by the Yala monsoon.
