Overview

Considered one of the best Balkan countries for hiking, there are over 10,000 km of marked trails through stunning mountain scenery in Slovenia.  Discover these trails through the Julian Alps, Kamnik-Savinja Alps and Karavanke Alps, including Slovenia’s lone national park, Triglav National Park, which contains the country’s highest peak. Oct – April: snow (can be snow in higher elevations until June)
Climate: Mediterranean along the coast (hot, dry summers and cool, rainy winters).  Continental in the interior particularly in the mountains (warm to hot summers and cold, snowy winters). 

Accessibility of Hiking

Easy – Medium: There is good hiking infrastructure in Slovenia, with a backcountry hut system. There are guidebooks, apps and lots of accessible information.  Not everything will be in English.
