Where To Hike When - Discover Best Hikes and Trails Around the World.

Best Hiking Trails in Seychelles

Seychelles is a string of more than 100 islands above Madagascar in the Indian Ocean and is known for its exquisite beaches, but has some beautiful mountains to hike.  Divided into two main groups: the ‘Inner’ (or ‘Granitic) and ‘Outer’ Islands.  The Inner Islands are the mountainous ones whereas the Outer Islands are more flat, coral atolls.

The main areas for hiking are on the island of Mahé, where Morne Seychellois National Park covers a large part of the island and contains peaks such as Morne Blanc, Morne Seychellois and Mount Simpson; and Silhouette island which has trails to Mont Dauban and Mont Pot a Eau. The best months for hiking in the Seychelles are June to August.  Read on for more information on where and when to hike in the Seychelles.

Most popular hikes in Seychelles

The main hiking area is on Mahé, the largest of the islands, part of the ‘Granitic Islands’, home to the capital and 90% of the Seychelles population. The other island where there is hiking is Silhouette. Many of the other islands in the Seychelles have mountains but are quite tiny and are run as private resorts; many of them have an emphasis on ecotourism and conservation. Highest Mountain: Morne Seychellois (905 m) on Mahé.
