Best Hiking Trails in Jamaica


While music, rum and beaches come to mind when thinking about Jamaica, there is some beautiful hiking here, particularly in the Blue Mountains, but most of it is untapped potential.  The main areas for hiking in Jamaica are the Blue Mountains-John Crow National Park and Holywell Park in the Blue Mountains, as well as Cockpit Country.  Some popular hikes include Blue Mountains Peak, Catherine’s Peak, Sugarloaf Trail and the One Love Trail.  The best months to hike in Jamaica are December to April and June – July.  Read on for more information on where and when to go hiking in Jamaica.

August – November: Rainy; risk of hurricanes
Climate: Tropical – hot, rainy season and a cool, drier season; hurricane season is officially June 1 to Nov 30 but more often they occur in late Aug – Oct.  June and July can be a bit rainier but much less crowded and less expensive.  Temps steady throughout the year
