Dominica is a small island in the Caribbean, and is known as the Nature Island, due to its lush, green mountainous landscapes.  In 2023, Dominica appeared on many ‘Top Places to Visit’ lists, including by Time and CNN Travel.  Some of the well known hiking trails include the Boiling Lake hike, Morne Diablotin, Morne Trois Pitons and of course the long distance Waitukubuli National Trail, 115 miles across the country. When To Hike in Dominica?

February – April: Least amount of rain, although it is quite rainy here
May; December – January: Rainy but not as much as during the rainiest period
June – November: Rainiest period; hurricane season from August – October

Climate: Tropical (wet and dry seasons) but in Dominica it is almost always raining – it’s lush and green for a reason.  Rain more abundant in the interior mountainous area and eastern side.  Despite rain, lots of sunshine throughout the year.
