Chilkoot Trail May Reopen August 2023

The Chilkoot Trail, a popular multi-day trek crossing Alaska in the US and Yukon in Canada, has been closed to trekkers since 2022 due to extensive damage from severe flooding.  The Canadian side of the trail is set to reopen on June 1, and the US side is scheduled for August 1.  More details can be found here: Alaskan Side of Chilkoot Trail Set to Reopen August 1

Used as a route for gold seekers during the Klondike gold rush, the modern day Chilkoot Trail is a 53 km (33 mile) rugged trail going from coastal Alaska through the Coast Mountains to Lake Bennett in Yukon.  It attracts hikers from around the world and is usually hiked in the summer months.
